Coco Key Water Resort. Groups can enjoy some fun in the sun
any time of year in this 65,000-square-foot water park at
Sheraton Chicago Northwest in Arlington Heights. Illinois’ largest
indoor water park is a balmy 84 degrees year-round and features
a tube river, wave pool, indoor/outdoor whirlpools, four body and
raft slides, an arcade and two activity pools. Students can float
over to the “Dip-in Theater” to watch a movie without even getting
out of the water. Group rates and reservations are available. |

Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. Travel back to the 11th
century as you step into this medieval arena for dinner and a
knightly tournament. Enjoy the four-course dinner sans silverware
(medieval style) while you watch six noble knights compete
in a traditional jousting tournament. Groups will enjoy the
drama, action, music and feasting at this unique attraction in
Schaumburg. Group rates are available with reservations, and
matinees are available on some days. |

Woodfield Mall. The No. 1 tourist attraction in Illinois boasts
nearly 300 stores and restaurants, plus movie theaters. Students
can enjoy lunch in a tropical paradise at the Rainforest Cafe, then
spend the afternoon shopping in the huge variety of stores,

Plan a visit to the northwest Chicago suburbs for your
next youth sports trip. The Greater Woodfield area,
named for one of the country’s largest shopping malls,
offers many athletic facilities and tons of exciting
attractions, making it the perfect location for student sports
groups. Teams can watch a Schaumburg Flyers minor league
baseball game or a Chicago Shamrox professional lacrosse game.
The northwest suburbs offer plenty to keep students busy in a
convenient location just 30 miles outside of Chicago and close to
O’Hare International Airport. |

| PLACES TO PLAY: |

The Sport Center. Opened in 2005, this 100,000-square-foot
facility in Schaumburg offers loads of space for youth sports
groups to hold camps, clinics, practices and tournaments. The
property contains four basketball courts, six volleyball courts,
two indoor soccer fields, an indoor baseball/softball field, two
batting tunnels and a gymnastics center. There is also a concession
stand to meet students’ and spectators’ munching needs. |

Prairie Stone Sports and Wellness Center. This facility in
Hoffman Estates is a private fitness center, but youth groups can
rent courts/space for various purposes. The center features three
basketball/volleyball courts, three indoor tennis courts, an exercise
room, a weight room, an indoor four-lane lap pool, a climbing
wall, an indoor track and locker rooms. |

Rolling Meadows Park District. The park district offers a variety
of sports facilities around the city that can be reserved for different
activities. Nelson Sports Complex has an ice rink, a gymnastics
center and an outdoor Olympic-size pool with locker rooms.
Florey Park offers basketball courts, soccer fields, tennis courts
and sand volleyball courts. Plum Grove Park has a skate park,
tennis courts, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts and an
outdoor pool, while Waverly Park has a baseball diamond and
basketball courts. Sunset Park has soccer/multi-purpose fields. |
