
Kansas is the geographical centre or the heartland of the United States. The word Kansas is derived from kansa, meaning, “People of the South Wind.” Kansas is the picturesque land of rolling prairies and wheat fields; plains and grasslands that witnessed Indian skirmishes and relocations, where pro- and anti-slavery forces fought long and hard against each other before Kansas finally joined the Union as a free state in 1860.
Kansas is also a major center of aviation and features several top-notch space- and aeronautics-related attractions. Wichita, the state’s largest city has been nick-named the Air-Capital for this reason. Topeka is the state capital.
Kansas City is full of wonderful sites and sounds. It is a unique city often referred to as the city of fountains. Kansas City is a buzzing metropolis full of history, entertainment and some of the nation’s most recognizable franchises.
