The word Minnesota means the land of sky-tinted water. The state of Minnesota is situated at the heartland of U.S.A. It is the land of several lakes and its name is well suited to its aquatic nature. The twin city metropolis of St.Paul and Minneapolis is the biggest urban area in the state. More than half the population of Minnesota resides in these twin cities that are separated by the Mississippi River.

The thousands of small inland lakes offer unlimited potential for camping, canoeing and fishing, while the great Lake Superior has islands, beaches and many miles of beautiful shoreline scenery. Winter is ideal for cross-country skiing and dog sledding. The northeast region of Minnesota hs the greatest aining much as it was at the time of its discovery in the 16th century, offering a wilderness experience similar to the Alaskan interior. Lake Superior’s North Shore is lined with interesting harbor towns and villages, including the international shipping port of Duluth, the gateway to the Scenic Highway-61 lakeshore drive that offers superb views all the way to the Canadian border. The Riverway is a unique area with a diversity of habitat, which provides many opportunities for viewing wildlife. A variety of recreational activities can be enjoyed in this picturesque setting.
