Oklahoma has a surprising amount of attractions. Lots to see and do throughout the year. With over 50 state parks and 2 national historic sites, one national battlefield in Washita a national park in Chickasaw, seven full-service resorts and 11 challenging golf courses.
Oil made Oklahoma a rich state, but natural-gas production has now surpassed it. Oklahoma’s plains are rich and produce bumper yields of crop year after year. Oklahoma City is the biggest city in the state and the state capital. Tulsa is the other urban center. Both cities offer all the excitement and amenities of other big cities, with lots of outdoor opportunities just around the corner. Tourist attractions include the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore, the Cherokee Village, the restored Fort Gibson Stockade near Muskogee, the Lake Texoma recreation area, pari-mutuel horse racing at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, and Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw.
