Tennessee, the land of blues and rock n roll, is a southern state bordered by as many as 8 states. Tennessee offers a surprising number of wilderness areas and natural attractions. In the east beautiful ridges and valleys rise up to the highest point of Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which Tennessee shares with North Carolina. The 29 lakes spread throughout the state, filled with fish and offering water sports opportunities. Tennessee is also known for its historic heritage trails, and the most famous of these is called Trail of Tears. It stretches for 260 miles through Tennessee before heading into Kentucky. There’s much to see and do on the outskirts of majestic Smoky Mountain National Park, where you will find strip malls and fast-food joints compete with quaint historic towns. Also take ot time to explore the rural countryside, where time seems to stand still.
Tennessee’s main tourist attraction however still remains Elvis. Though the artist has been dead for more than 25 years, his homeland of Memphis attracts millions of fans every year. The visit is not complete without a peek into the Sun Studios where Elvis cut his first record album and Tupelo, Mississippi, where he was born. The State capital, Nashville, also has a musical heritage, being home to the Grand Ole Opry, the hub of country music.
