Save a Tree-Stay Updated Since we started publishing Prep Traveler in late 2005 we’ve reached out to many of you who plan sports events and/or student performance group travel. We set the magazine up as a resource guide to help you pick and choose new destinations, receive updates on new and note-worthy activities, facilities, attractions, events and destination developments throughout the United States and obtain advice from columnists on topics ranging from insurance and negotiating hotel room blocks to fundraising ideas, managing volunteers, budgeting, and the trials and tribulations of dealing with today’s youth. There’s never a shortage of information to report, the challenge being how much we can cram in to a bi-annual issue. One of the dilemmas we face in the publishing industry is what many publishers call the perfect storm. On one hand, we are dealing with rising costs of producing and mailing magazines – a harsh reality that many businesses have had to cope with the past few years. On the other hand, we have a shifting landscape in how people prefer to consume (read) content. While print publications are a preferred vehicle for many, increasingly, more and more consumers prefer to scour the web when they have a need, plucking out articles and ideas that solve a problem or inspire an idea.
