Orange County is famous for such attractions as Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm. This area of Southern California is rapidly growing, and the county is the third most populous in the United States. Its warm Mediterranean climate and 42 miles of year-round beaches make it a year-round tourist nirvana.
PLACES TO PERFORM: Disneyland Park. Band, vocal and dance groups can perform at this Anaheim theme park as part of the Disney Magic Music Days educational program, which includes workshops conducted by top professionals. The second-most visited theme park in the world, it consists of eight themed areas, including Adventureland, Main St. USA, Frontierland, Critter Country, Mickey’s ToonTown, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and New Orleans Square. For thrill rides, visit Disney’s California Adventure, Disneyland’s newer, California-themed park.
PLACES TO PARADE: Swallows Day Parade. This March parade celebrates the legend of the return of the swallows to the San Juan Capistrano Mission on St. Joseph’s Day. It is the nation’s largest non-motorized parade. PLACES TO HAVE FUN:
Knott’s Berry Farm. Located in Buena Park, America’s first theme park is packed with attractions. Independence Hall is a replica of the original in Philadelphia, while the Ghost Town is the oldest part of the park. Fiesta Village is a Latin-themed area, the Boardwalk is home to thrill rides and Camp Snoopy is for younger children. Wild Water Wilderness offers the Bigfoot Rapids river rafting adventure.
